TV Video Focus Problem
« on: May 01, 2022, 02:04:09 pm »

Hi, testing Live TV and a buffered Recording right now, everytime after approx 30 seconds the screen goes out of video.
Only the channel's logo gets displayed once the video stops.
A message like 'this video is owned by another screen' shows up as osd.
Rolled back to .38, which is the last stable version to me for Live TV usage, and fine again.

Could this be related to my previous post concerning the focus not staying with MC aswell ?

I am not seeing this.  Did it also happen with non-TV video playback?

Hi Yaobing, only TV content related. Both Live and buffered.
Non-TV video isn't affected.

Rolled back and front a couple times between .39, 40 and 41:

.39 is fine.
.40 introduced the issue when clients accessing the TV (Guide). MC would crash.
.41 solved the crashing. But don't keep focus on MC and Live TV gets stopped after approx 30 seconds.

The message at the bottom in the screen is new to me as something like 'this video is owned by another screen'
When the content stops , the channel logo is displayed. When then leaving theater View the video is visible as static/freeze in Standard View.

FYI I'm using JRVR, Nvidea GT1080 to output DP and DHCP is ok.

'this video is owned by another screen'

We are not able to identify where this message came from.  Can you capture a screenshot of it?

Do you have anything else installed that might access video occasionally?  Even an open Explorer window?

Other tabs open in MC?

Any NVIDIA or other utilities in the Taskbar?

Can you test on another machine?

We're not seeing this reported by others, so there's a good chance it's something specific about your setup or use.

The exact error message might help.

Hi Yaobing and Jim,

Thanks for this followup,

Nvidea just introduced a new driver: 512.59
I've installed this latest version and even with .41 i can't repeat the video problem any longer ?
Both Live TV and buffered recordings are smooth and keep on playing since.

Strangely during the weekend rolled back and front between .39, 40 and 41 the video issue sticked to 40 and 41.
Only .39 was playing fine.

So wondering if something video related was modified since .39
Most important with the latest Nvidea driver .41 is also fine.

Yaobing I'll keep you posted once i notice something additionally.

Thanks again !

The exact error message might help.

Hi Jim, Yaobing, here you go:
'The display for this zone is owned by a different window'

The issue went away for awhile, today it's back without any specific reason.
Tried starting a Live TV channel, after approx 30 the video isn't shown anylonger. At the same time the channel's logo gets showed and the above message appears at the same location where the OSD normally is.
Audio is still present.
Leaving Theater View for Standard View brings the video back.
Restarting MC solved the issue, at least for the moment.

I'm on .47, Windows 11 and using the latest Nvidia driver.

In case you want me to test something let me know.

Cheers.

I've had that error message crop up now and again over the years and it's really frustrating. I've never been able to work out how or why, but it's hard to get rid of the screen blanking and displaying the message. And when it does go away, I have been left wondering why it did so.
I did bring it up in a post several years ago. It's not been happening recently though. If it's of any use, I seem to recall the problem arising after using MC as a DLNA server.

I have never seen this nor do I have any idea what could be causing this, maybe some of this will assist in diagnosis...
Is this a single display machine or has multiple displays?
What kind of connection from the machine to the display(s)? HDMI or VGA or . . .
Is it a MC Server or Client?
Do you have "zones" set up in MC?
Are  you using "play to zone" in MC"?
Do you use "detach display" in MC?
Do you control MC on this machine with JRemote/Gizmo/Panel? or Infrared Remote? or mouse+keyboard?
