eBook Thumbnails
« on: May 23, 2022, 02:55:39 am »

Hi

Was just considering whether I could start using MC as my eBook manager., so tried setting up a document view.
But unfortunately many thumbnails never generated for the covers ... is there any way for MC to create a thumbnail from the first page of any ebook document? (PDF, ePub, Mobi, etc...)
Also, is it possible to Exclude any specific file types from the view? (such as text docs, etc)

Yes! Customize View (right click on a view) allows to define 'rules for files display'. This allows to filter any database field such as FileName, Extension, MediaType. It is even possible to combine rules.

We only thumbnail some types of ebooks.

PDF is unfortunately not one of them.

You can right-click the file, pick Cover Art, then Add From File and pick a screenshot you made yourself.

You could make the view filter by the file type field and show panes as one way to pick and exclude some types.

Ah that's a pity, was hoping to use all media in one app.
But odd thing is, is that some of the PDF's (as in Screenshot above) actually do show the thumbnail ... not sure why then for some and not for others if not support?
Too many to do it all manually.
But thanks!

Don't give up.  We'll see what can be done.

That would be amazing if ever possible. Would blow all the other ebook "managers" outa the water.

We're going to turn on cover art lookup in a coming build for books.  Let us know how it works.  Thanks.
