Configuring DSP functions streamed to KEF Lsx speakers.
« on: June 04, 2022, 09:54:18 am »

Recently acquired KEF Lsx to simplify my system. Using JRiver 29 on Windows 10. Flac audio library on Synology DS220+ loaded into MC. Audio quality is very good, however, I cannot get the DSP function to work to enhance the audio further, equaliser, etc. Audio sounds the same whether played direct from NAS or MC. I have gone into "Media Network" and ticked all relevant boxes and specified output. KEF Lsx appears in left hand tree under Playing Now. I have linked the Player to Lsx. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. Help.

Do you mean you can't find it, or you have found it but can't get it to work?

If you have the mode set to "Specified Output Format" then the DSP Studio should be available under "Advanced"

I have found it and checked all boxes/specifics within the MC menu's. My previous set-up was played via USB and played faultlessly through Cambridge CXN Series1 v.2. This new kit is all connected up via Ethernet as is recommended by KEF for the best sound quality and allows the highest bitrate within the system. Maybe DSP does not work through Ethernet. My previous kit may be reinstalled and return the KEF's.

Been through the "Media Network" menu and all applied. I think the problem is the difference between USB and Ethernet connections. Can DSP be used with both types of connections. In my previous set-up I used USB connection from Windows 10 to Cambridge CXN Series1 v.2. Worked flawlessly.

Is the Ethernet connection using DLNA or UPnP?  Did you check the link I gave you?  AndrewFG's program may be helpful.

Yes, I checked the link you gave. Thankyou. The Internet connection is using DLNA.

Unfortunately, Audio Path does not work for DLNA.  When I am not sure about DSPs being applied, I set Tempo to speed up or slow down the sound. That is a good test to see if DSPs are being applied.

Does the DAC tell you the sample rate and format it is receiving?

Maximum supported sample rate is 192kHz/24bit.
Maximum play back 96kHz/24bit with both speakers connected by supplied cable.
From the Control App there is no information about sample rates and format.

I set the EQ to some obnoxious values to test but it always works if your DLNA server settings are set to "specified format" and you configure the DSP settings there under advanced.
