No TV on JRiver Client
« on: June 24, 2022, 01:40:19 am »

Hi
I have a headless Server running MC29 on Windows 10, I have an RPI4 as a client also running MC29 .
I am using an "old"  hdhomerun HDHR3-DT as DVB-T tuner

I have configured it on the server and can get the tv channel (via remote destop) flawlessly.

On my RPI4 I have the list of channels fulfilled by the server, but unfortunatlyI can't run any tv show.
Nothing happend when i click on a channel

My dual HDHomeRun tuner does not appears when I select TV Option => Manage Television Devices (on RPI4)

My guess is your Windows computer uses bda tuners.  These tuners show up only on Windows.  Client-Server TV playback is only available on Windows.

The only way to get TV playback on non-Windows is through DMS devices.  Not sure if your old HDHomeRun supports DMS.  To find out, you need to enable Media Network on RPI4 so that it can detect DLNA devices.  If it detect the device, we might be able to get TV to play on it.

I am not sure to understand your answer.

My HDHomeRun (version 3) tuner is a network tuner that is able to be used on an RPI4 with kodi or librelec.

It is not a DLNA Device so it is not detect under DMS.

I do not understand why in the setup menu of MC Linux version, there is no "antenna" option (only DMS an IPTV) ...
HDHomeRun also provide some drivers for linux https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/linux

DMS and IPTV are the only types supported in MC on non-Windows.

What is the roadmap regarding the integration of "non dlna" DVB T tuner into MC for Linux ?
is there any chance that this feture be part of MC29 ?

I am not able to give you a time, but it is not likely that this can be done in version 29.

DMS and IPTV are the only types supported in MC on non-Windows.

I actually misspoke.  On non-Windows OpenCABLE and Sat>IP devices are also supported in MC29.  The former is a US cable TV standard, that streams cable TV channels on local network using RTSP protocol.  Sat>IP is a device that streams DVB (T, C, S, so it is not necessarily just Satellite) on local network, also using RTSP protocol.  If you have one of these devices you can select "Digital cable or satellite" for Service Type during setup.

Unfortunately neither of these applies to "hdhomerun HDHR3-DT".

I am posting this just to set the record straight.
