Maybe this has already been commented on.  I use MC9 to rip in digital secure, and an external encoder  (LAME with --alt-preset standard--hopefully someday the MC9 LAME encoder will support these settings)--and I've noticed that it is VERY slow, but it does a great job.  

When I encode with EAC/LAME, the encoding occurs simultaneously with the ripping(after the first song is ripped)--which saves a fair amount of time  (For example, song number one will be encoding, and EAC will rip song number two at the same time).  In MC9, the first song has to be completely ripped AND encoded before ripping can begin on the second song.  It would be great if MC9 could work in this manner!  (I prefer to rip/encode in MC9; then I don't have to "analyze audio" to get kbm's and intensity).

MC9 uses the LAME encoder for MP3's and can use any custom settings you want to use with it.

Under the CD Ripping Encoding Options, choose MP3 Encoder or MP3 Encoder VBR as your encoder. Then for Quality, choose Custom, and click the Advanced button. It defaults to --alt-preset fast standard.

Only if you have it set up to rip first then encode. Otherwise default is: Rip and encode on the fly. And, if I had a cpu with more horsepower, this wouldn't be as slow as it is for me now. It does seem that EAC's style, which is what MJ7 used, is faster.

This has been at, or close to, the top of my wish list since the V8 beta.

Doof: I put those settings in--BINGO!! Thanks man.  It now rips/encodes simlutaneously.  When I used my EAC/LAME encoder as an external encoder, even in the default mode  (rip and encode simultaneously), it wouldn't do both processes at the same time.  This setup is lightning fast compared to what I was getting before.  The average BR dropped a little  (5 kbs); obviously not enough for me to notice any appreciable difference; quality appears to be outstanding.  Thanks again everyone!
