MC 30 and Apple TV
« on: November 19, 2022, 12:44:33 pm »

Hi,
Does anybody know a reliable way to play audio and video from MC library on Apple TV? I have MC 30 library installed on a Windows PC as DLNA server, and would love to play songs and videos on Apple TV through network.
I did some research and apparently Apple TV does not support directly DLNA (pfff, Apple and their proprietary protocols, what you expect?), so some other player is required. I tried VLC, sometimes it works sometime not, and the functionality is really limited. A lot of internet people point towards Plex, but I couldn't make it work, at least not the free version.
Ideally would be JRemote, it works great on iPad and iPhone but it is not for Apple TV. Mirroring screen from iPad to AppleTV is degrading the image quality. Do you guys at JRiver plan any future version of JRemote for Apple TV?
I would appreciate a few ideas, even if not completely free.
Thank you.
