Suggestions: More control over background scanning
« on: December 21, 2022, 03:06:35 pm »

Suggestion #1 -- Divide background auto-scanning option into two:

a) Scan based only on File System Events
b) Periodic scan - with time setting, e.g., 2.0 hours (default)

Reason: On a dedicated MC set-up which is turned on most of every day, but not always playing, HDD(s) will be spun up every 2 hours for no reason. All file changes are updated over LAN, so File System Events would be the sufficient trigger for scanning.

Suggestion #2 -- Ability to trigger auto-scan automatically upon PC resume from sleep/standby:

Reason: On a Windows 11 'Modern Standby'-capable PC, a.k.a. S0-capable, it can receive files over LAN and even write them to external HDD, all without fully waking the system. However, I've observed that File System Events are either not issued or are somehow suppressed during the S0 state. As a result, MC does not 'notice' the new/changed files.

Thank you.
