Alternate playback settings--nonfunctional?
« on: March 03, 2003, 08:49:59 am »

Again, I think I've got one of those PEBCAKs (problem exists between chair and keyboard).

I can't seem to make the alternate playback settings work with 9.0.123. I've defined one set of playback settings to be gapless & the other (ALT) set to be crossfading.

I don't seem to be able to access the ALT-playback settings:

1) Holding down ALT & clicking the play button widget in Mega-Me doesn't do it.

2) Holding down ALT-CTRL-P doesn't do it.

3) Holding down ALT while selecting "Play/Pause" from the menu doesn't do it.

What am I missing?... (or is it <shhh> MC </shhh>)

Best,
Brad

It's temporary, not lasting.

Hold down ALT while you seek or switch tracks and it'll use alternate.

As soon as you let ALT up, it reverts back.

We may make it "sticky" someday if enough people think that makes more sense.

Thanks!

Aha! I thought it was sticky!

I was hoping I could set up one batch of settings (the normal settings) that I would use for my usual playback, which is pretty album-oriented.

However, sometimes I like to switch to smartlist playback (background music, parties, etc.) For that, I'd like to cross-fade tracks (and use the ALT playback settings).

For now, I guess I'll just have to keep messing in the options screen, but "sticky" ALT settings seem more natural to me...

It also gives you a great way to switch between DirectSound, WaveMapper, ASIO, and DiskWriter on the fly...
