Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 200M - JRiver 30
« on: March 05, 2023, 11:41:03 am »

Hi, and thanks in advance for any assistance.  I am a newbie to hidef audio.  Longtime iTunes user, lots of content stored there, vinyl transcriptions, etc.  But mostly imported CD content.

I just upgraded my Dacmagic 100 to the 200M for the feature set.  MQA on Tidal, Balanced outputs to my LS25, Bluetooth to eliminate another little box, plus native DSD playback.

Can anyone assist with the proper configuration of the JRiver software considering the 200M?  Windows 10, latest USB driver, (5.27), MC 30.

I recently spent some cash on DSD content from NativeDSD.com, and the 200M does not show playback as DSD, but does indicate 176.4 sample rate.  Is this correct?

Playing with the JRiver output settings is fraught with peril, as I have caused errors, loss of sound, and total static output depending on the options selected.

What is the right way to do this?  I have screen shots of the current settings, which are working, attached in Word format [removed by JimH, not a safe format], just not sure if they are optimal.  Thanks in advance.

You could just upload jpg files.

Take a look at the wiki:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php?title=DSD

If the device supports the DSD format you're playing, you don't need to use output settings to change it.

Thanks for the response.  If I set the output to the Default option, the DAC drops the resolution to 44.1 from 176.4.  I am using the 200M kernel driver option.   The files are 256 or 512 DSD format from nativedsd.  jpg files attached

Turn off all DSP.

Try the other suggestions in the wiki topic.

Thanks.  The wiki was very helpful and I think I have it dialed in now.  Set the driver to the Cambridge Audio ASIO and bitstreaming to DSD.  DAC now shows DSD\768 and JRiver shows "no changes".  Not sure if this is the right setting for all content, will have to monitor as I go.  Really appreciate the support.  Gives me confidence for the divorce from iTunes.

Yes, that's the correct configuration for DSD in JRiver Media Center. :)
