Tidbyt interface?
« on: March 08, 2023, 05:55:54 am »

Wondering if anyone has been playing around with a Tydbyt display? https://tidbyt.com/

I think it's a pretty cool device but only really want to get one if I can figure out a way to get whatever is playing on MC to display on it.

Seems pretty easy to program via http://localhost:52199/MCWS/v1/Playback/Info?Zone=-1 but then again I have no idea ;-)

Thoughts?

Cheers!

Sure, you're pretty much on the money with that.
Just poll that url periodically and present the information :)
I didn't take much time to read into their dev stuff but tidbyt.dev seems comprehensive enough to get you started. Seems like you can make an http request. There's an 'xpath' module documented that should help you work with the data you get from the request.

Very cool idea!

I have a now playing interface too. I mostly use it for the tablets but at one point I had some portrait televisions wall mounted as posters. It was pretty chill, when something was actually active, the relevant displays could switch to that and then they'd default to my primary 'genre' poster collection slideshow pretty much.

It's one of those idea's that's *really* cool for like... a week and then you wonder why you have these TVs setup. I'll be the first chick in line for a large format E-Ink 'poster', the glow is what kills traditional displays for this purpose.
