Changing Filename Path
« on: May 05, 2023, 02:05:30 pm »

I have album folders in my library...some with Drive X in the filename path and others with Drive Y.
At some point both drives were active and some folders were inadvertently imported from Drive Y (which is no longer) active and consequently will not play due to incorrect path.
However the album folders DO now exist on Drive X.
Is there a way to edit the tags of the full library replacing Y with X in filename paths so that MC can see these folders?

I have read the referenced REPLACE how-to but have questions...

Would this process need to be done filename path by filename path which would literally dozens of repetitions OR could it done en masse?

With that in mind is there a way to identify which folders are Drive X and which Drive Y?

You can update them all in one go.
1) Create a smart list to show the items you want.
e.g

2) Select all the items returned*
3) Right click and select Tag
4) In the filename tag enter =Replace([Filename],Y:,X:) and then press return

*May be just select one file to try it on first, then when you are happy it is doing what you want select all the remaining files.
Don't forget that there is Edit>Undo if it goes wrong, or better stillmake a back up of your library before you start.

Assuming you have the standard view open then Smartlists are within in the Playlists section in the lefthand panel

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Create_a_Smartlist

I just tried a SEARCH for "create a smartlist" and error message said all search terms need to be at least 2 characters?!   ?
Dropping the "a" does yield results.   ;D
