Questions with MC9...
« on: February 23, 2003, 12:41:26 pm »

Just downloaded MC9 and having a couple small issues:

Can't check for updates. Message: JRReader Failed to connect to server. Reason: {none}

Can't download the plugin Chart finder. Fail message appears at the end of installation.

Sometimes MC will save random cover art to given tracks. Not sure where it gets it.

Will uninstalling and reinstalling cause any loss of data?

Also, in MJ 8 you could adjust the view settings i.e. remove the file location from view but also replace it later. Is this still an option with MC9 or should I classify it as another one of my problems?

You can try to reinstall over top of your current MC9 version.

Or

If all your files are tagged the Files will need to be re-imported. All will Be well

You could backup Your Data\Coverart

And once the new install is inplace you can move it into the new install

I would also make sure the old

Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox
Program Files\J River\Media Center

Folders Have Been Removed If you do A Uninstall

Still Avail And More

Okay, did the reinstallation just as you've suggested. Now nothing works. When I try to play a track I now get a message:

There was an error starting playback.
Make sur that your system has a valid sound playback device and that it is properly configured in Media Jukebox's playback options.
(double check the output mode. output device. and output bitdepth)

I also still cannot use the "check for updates" option in the help menu.

I also cannot install ANY handheld device plugins. I have a Nomad Zen, but have tried to plug in others but none will install. I have installed the chart finder, sleep timer, mp3 encoder.

Any suggestions?

I don't know.  Are you using 9.0.105 from the downloads page or 9.0.119 from this board?

Try uninstalling, and removing the registry entries, then reinstalling.  You'll lose your settings.

Interesting.

The error: JRReader Failed to connect to server. Reason: {none}

Is the same error I'm seeing when I try to import .mpg files (see my other thread).

I'm running 119.

Thanks, Mark

How do I remove the registry settings?

For the time being I've unistalled MC9 and just gone back to MJ8 so that I can listen to my music. Got a little frustrated with the whole thing.
