Id NUC Lost Audio output
« on: June 27, 2023, 05:04:39 pm »

I somehow lost audio output from my Id NUC (Id:24.0.17 MC:26.0.107-5 Engen:1.0.69) today. I successfully used it last night. Can't think of anything that's changed (no evidence of power outage or spikes).

I have TOSLINK to my Rotel integrated amp (where the DAC is), and my configuration screenshot is attached. I can't seem to get it to play correctly - included error screenshot - so I restored a library backup from earlier. Now it SAYS the music is playing correctly, but still no sound coming out. I'm trying different Audio Device options from the Options screen, but can't get anything to work.

HELP!

Power cycle everything.

Thanks Jim. Everything power cycled, multiple times. I even found a firmware update for my Rotel, and ran that cycle (to be clear, the problem existed prior to that, and after that). I should add: I am able to playback successfully on my Windows desktop (MC client), and to my iPhone.

Did you follow the advice of the error message?

DSP Studio > Output format

Force everything to 48Khz as a test.

Sure did. What I thought was more important was the detail about the output to 'ALSA'. That's on the Audio Device settings in Options. I can't figure out why none of them work.

Could the DAC on my Rotel be somehow fried???

You could try connecting another device to the DAC and playing to test the DAC. You could also connect another output device to the IdNUC to test the Id.

Ya, I was thinking last night... I wonder if this is my universe's way of telling me to jump into the world of external DACs.  ::)
