OK, it looks like it's turning DPMS on after about a minute.  That would explain the few tests that I did because I wasn't waiting that long.   It doesn't explain the original issue I had which was when I left MC up on Sunday night, all my monitors were still on on Monday morning.  I immediately checked xset without touching anything else and DPMS was disabled and when I closed MC, it enabled again.   Maybe it was just a fluke.  I'll leave MC running again tonight and see what happens.
