My system:
PC Windows 11
JRiver Media Center 31.0.36 (64 bit)
Equalizer APO
Playback devices: Monitor speakers on HDMI or Fiio K5 Pro on USB
Everything works fine when I play a music file with Windows Media Player: the sound is played correctly on the selected Windows default playback device.
When I play it with MC (Audio Option: Default Audio Device [Direct Sound]), MC plays it on the Monitor speakers, despite Fiio being selected on Windows as the default playback device.
I can change the Audio output in MC settings, forcing the sound to played on Fiio, but in that case I cannot enjoy the Equalizer APO effects, because MC skips Equalizer APO.
Today I discovered a workaround. I use
Soundswitch, a free software to quickly switch between Windows default playback devices, either through clicking the tray icon or through a keyboard shortcut. If, in Soundswitch, while MC is playing some music, I select the Monitor speakers and then I select again Fiio, I am able to listen the music played by MC on Fiio with the Equalizer APO effect. But, if I restart MC to play something else, the sound comes out again from the Monitor speakers, despite Windows showing that the default playback device is still Fiio.
In conclusion:
MC setting “Default Audio Device [Direct Sound]” does not follow Windows chosen default playback device.
I can force it to follow it through Soundswitch, but MC resets when restarted.
Any solution?
