Idiosyncratic white noise/static during playback
« on: August 08, 2023, 10:42:42 am »

Sorry, if these have been answered, but I spent the better part of an hour trying to find an answer before I started a "New Topic."

I have two issues that recently appeared. During playback I am now routinely getting a sudden, idiosyncratic appearance of white noise/static that causes me to shutdown MC31 and restart my computer to resolve it. The appearance of this white noise/static may happen after only a couple minutes of playing a file, after several files have been played, or after an hour of playing. I cannot tell of any precipitating factors. Most of my files are FLAC.

The second issue is importing files into my 'Library.' I recently downloaded albums from Qobuz. All the song files appear in the Windows file directory. I use the MC31, like I always have, to import files into the Library. The files show in the "Imported" files window, but do not appear in the dashboard for playing. I can double click on the files within the Windows File Explorer and they will play on MC31, but I need to do that with each individual file. If I attempt to use the 'Import' function in MC31 I receive a message that there are no files to import. How do I get the missing files to show in the Library?

Thanks!

There is no support for Qobuz in MC.  Sorry.

The noise problem may be the device you're playing to.  What is it?

Any changes recently?

It sounds like the files have no metadata or incomplete metadata. MC's library is driven from metadata.

To verify that these files were actually imported, try using MC's Audio > Files view.  In that view, there is a Location pane.  In Location you will see all drives and folders that are imported.  Drill down to where the field are.  They should show up in the file area below.  Then you can see if they have Album, Artist, etc tags.  If not, you can tag them yourself.

If you can not find the files, you might try using the search box and typing some of the file name.

Good luck.

Brian.
