Cannot Connect New JRemote IOS to Mac
« on: August 07, 2023, 03:26:41 pm »

I am not able to connect JRemote IOS on iPhone 12 Pro with IOS 16.6 to my Mac JRiver Media Center using the access key. I get two errors.

1. Connecting to IP "Could not connect (The internet connection appears to be offline.)" It is not offline.
2. Conneting to IP (Using router IP) "Timed out."

I deleted the app on my iPhone and downloaded a fresh version of the app. Same response.

There ar eno instructions for this I could find, and now beginning to question my investment.

On the Mac try testing the access key (in Tools->Options->Media Network, right-click on the access key)
That will refresh the server.
If JRemote still doesn't work check your Mac firewall settings.

No success. I do not know what to do. See attached screenshot. When I follow the instruction it says I cannot add my own library. see second screen shot.

Is there a good step by step manual or video I can use to do this?

I am visual, and the online documentation is not easily followed in a step by step fashion.

Let's just take this step by step.
The message you got from testing the access key is fine. It just means you can't access it over the internet without setting up a port forward but it should be fine with your iPhone on your local wifi network.

You don't need to add a library in MC, your files should be in the default libary.

On JRemote, make sure the access key for the server you setup matches the one you saw in MC's settings. If there is an IP address in the server settings for the access key in JRemote (i) remove it, it will get filled back in.

We suggest you setup your MC PC with a fixed lease from your DHCP or a static address but it should work without doing that. MC periodically updates the access key server with any change of your local address.

I am using a Mac.

What is "a fixed lease from your DHCP or a static address?"
