A few things of note during troubleshooting-
Media Center is definitely doing trimming of the filename and adding ellipsis during the "Rename, Move, & Copy Files" dialog.
Using formula Rules for Directories and Filename trying to rename file:Expecting (397 Characters):
- M:\books\Brandon Sanderson\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England #32 - FAQ_ Why Does Everyone in Britain Speak Modern English in My Pre-Norman-Conquest Dimension_ Shouldn’t That Require an Incredible Alignment of Social and Linguistic Factors That Would Never in a Million Years Align in Such a Convenient Way_.mp3
Truncating (shows in the Rename dialog what it's going to truncate result - see attached image)(259 Characters):
- M:\books\Brandon Sanderson\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England #32 - FAQ_ Why Does Everyone in Britain Speak Modern English in My Pre-Norman-Conquest Dimension_ Shouldn’….mp3
Directly Editing filename in Media Center (253 Characters)
- M:\books\Brandon Sanderson\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England\The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England #32 - FAQ_ Why Does Everyone in Britain Speak Modern English in My Pre-Norman-Conquest Dimension_ Sho.mp3
When filename is at
max length:
- If there is an existing ID3v2 group, editing tags works correctly
- If ID3v2 "group" is missing ("Remove Tags"), when editing tags only ID3v1 "group" gets created
- "Remove Tags" also doesn't work on ID3v2 when file is max length
