Scrolling through large collections
« on: September 01, 2023, 02:56:10 am »

JRiver Panel provides a helpful way to jump directly to the next first letter. (see screen shot)
I would also like to use this when scrolling in the TheaterView with the remote control. Which key combination can be used to jump to the next, resp. to the previous first letter?
Can this function also be used as an MCC command?

On a hardware remote, you can use the number pad to choose a letter.

For example, pressing the 5 once gives you a J, twice gives you K, three times gives you L.

Hi Jim
Thanks for the fast response.

This is a nice feature when using a remote with this letters printed on it. But unfortunately my Onkyo remote does not.

My IR receiver communicates with MediaCenter using MCC Commands. It is not one of the directly supported IR receivers. Therefore I need to know the MCC Commands.

Have you been to the Developer page?  MCWS is documented there.

The receiver (a multimedia keyboard with IR) generates keycodes which then will be mapped to MCC commands through Resource.xml. Is it possible to assign keycodes to MCWS ?

As far as I understand MCWS manages another data set in addition to the standard view and the TheaterView. Selections that I make in panels are independent of the selections in other views.
Therefore, I assume that the navigation functions of MCWS do not affect the views in the standard view or TheaterView.
I would like to scroll through large lists in TheaterView using the remote control or keyboard. A 'Jump to next first letter' function would be very helpful. Apparently the same observation has been made with panels. There is a function like this.

MCWS is our protocol.  It's a method for accessing the MC database.  Check the DevZone for more details.

You can jump to any position in a Theater View list by using the letters on a Media Center remote.  It works like a phone.  Hit a number key once for the first letter, twice for the second.
