Ram default instead of xmp?
« on: October 01, 2023, 07:49:34 am »

Hi!

When I bought the ram for my desktop..it was written that it was 3200 mhz. But it clearly is not since I have to use xmp to get it, so default is 2133.

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (sort)
PC4-25600, CL16, XMP 2.0, DIMM (2x8GB)
Varenummer: 893831 / Produktnr.: CMK16GX4M2B3200C16

The jriver benchmark get lower score at default, but is recommended anyway to just let it stay at default?,...if benchmark is 7500 instead of 8200 is not important. Could it be leaving it at default that maybe the system is more likely not to run into unwanted behaviour...so it actually is more likely to be stable performance in jriver(JRVR)?

I am not having problems now..but I just want to know if it is safer to just accept a lower score for the sake of more stablility/safety.

Good RAM should XMP configure to run at the right speed.

I recently had RAM that would crash when XMP configured but seemed to run alright configured on Auto.  I sold that RAM and bought a pack that does XMP configure.

I had the same RAM but upgraded to 32 GB. I had no problems running both at 3200 MHz (absolutely stable with AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 8C16T APU). Asus ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING detected the the xmp profile correct for the 16 GB RAM but not for 32 GB RAM-> I had to manually enable xmp.

Ok Thank You for helping me. not much about it in here so I really appreciated your responses. I have to manual choose xmp..on auto..it only gives default mhz. But that is just a matter on different mainboards..some give the right mhz when on auto..and some like my asrock z690 rs pro..I have to choose it manually I suppose.
