crash at start of audio analysis
« on: July 18, 2023, 08:24:40 pm »

I reported this in 30 and just saw it for the first time in 31.

1) Select block of several hundred mp3 files
2) Make MC do some bulk work on tags like say Clean Properties or Remove Tags
3) Then initiate audio analysis

About once out of 20 times MC instantly terminates. Fortunately no database corruption occurs.

I can't send a log because it's too hard to reproduce but I'm pretty sure if you're patient you'll see it.

We need a crash dump.  If you get one, please share.  Thanks.

I do not understand logging very well.

It might be several weeks before I see the problem again.

1) Can someone confirm there is no problem running MC with logging turned on for extended periods?

2) Assuming logging is on with no problems for weeks and then a crash occurs, will the log contain what JRiver needs?

We need a crash dump.  The log should contain that.  Click the "Report Problem" button after a crash.  You could tell the log to reset after 5 MB or similar to save space.

What is the full version of MC?  31.0.40 is available.

This crash occurred with 31.0.40. I have also seen it with most prior versions of 31.x.x and 30.x.x (and possibly 29.x.x but I can't remember for sure).

I saw this crash about once every couple weeks for a couple years and don't know if anything was changed to address it but i haven't seen another crash since I submitted a crash log 3 months ago.

I'd call it fixed.
