Upgrade Reports on MC32
« on: January 14, 2024, 02:32:13 am »

[Upgrade to MC32.0.2 from MC31]

The upgrade process is now near flawless. Really good. One thing that is getting missed each time is the download folder location setting for automatic updates. Have to re-apply my custom location with each major upgrade.

Cloudplay credentials don't transfer.

rpalmer68's report in 32.0.1 thread:
Quote
After upgrading from V31 to V32 to Update Channel setting got reset back to the default rather than keeping my V31 setting of "disabled" as I like to control when updates happen.

What I did notice though was that the Startup options in V31 got changed to Do Nothing, and my V31 settings got transferred to V32... thanks! I always forget to manually do this when I have upgraded in the past.

All Client machines upgraded nicely, but the upgrade on the Server had a small hiccup... The normal window that pops up to "Allow MC through windows Firewall" did NOT pop up, so I had to go into settings > media network > uncheck box for "use media network to share..." > save > restart MC > re-enable "use media network to share..."

Oh, and of course we still have to change all internal/external scripts, backups, calls of MC31.exe to MC32.exe, plus all the "taming" windows virus exclusions...

I did get the firewall pop-up, wonder why you didn't.

For MC31, I changed my exclusions to just the generic stuff (C:\Program Files\JRiver not MC31.exe for example). It seemed to work well throughout MC31, so I didn't actually change any of this for MC32.exe either. We'll see if it works out, but so far it's been tamed for me.

Shortcuts, yes, that's still something to keep track of.

Easily the best upgrade of MC to date though. It was essentially as quick as a mid-version upgrade for me.

I totally agree. I just have the JRiver Program Files and Roaming folders excluded, not the individual files or executables. Works fine and, as you say, does not have to be changed for upgrades.  I would suggest everyone do that and only exclude version specific files/folders if they run into a problem.  Makes upgrades much easier.

I've just upgraded from MC31 to MC32 on the Mac and it ran very smoothly.

Ya, my laptop did show the firewall pop-up, but not my Server PC until I forced it.

I agree excluding entire folders should be good enough, but on my Server PC I go overboard and also exclude "Services". This means deleting rules for "Media Center 31.exe" & "MC31.exe", then adding them back in as 32:

My upgrade was quick and painless.  I had no issues at all.  Windows 11 64 bit.
