Copy User Created View to Another Library?
« on: December 30, 2023, 08:48:47 pm »

I created a View for one Library that I would like to use on another Library.  How do I use (copy) the View on the 2nd Library.

Note:  The two Libraries contain video files.  But the files are different in each Library and are on different (Hard Drives) HD's (1-internal & the other 1-external) which are connected to the same PC.
Also, one Library and its video files reside one one HD and the other Library and its files reside on the other HD. Neither Library and (their files) reside on the PC's C: HD where MC is installed.

I tried dragging and dropping the View I named, via the Tree.
I copied the Saved Views folder from the first Library to 2nd. Library folder.

Neither action allowed my use of the View I am wanting.

From the library that has the view...

Open the "Customise View" tool.
In the center panel, scroll down to find "Saved Views > Save this view" and save it.
Switch libraries.

Right click in the tree and click "Add library view"
Choose the "Blank" option.
In the center panel of the customise view tool, remove the tick from "Use parent scheme rules" if it's there, then scroll down to find "Load from file". Find the file you saved earlier and load that. If the view then needs tweaking to fit the new library, tweak away, and then, enjoy.

Note, sometimes, the "Customise View" dialogue drops out of view behind MC. If that happens (and MC is maximised) just click on the taskbar to switch focus away from MC, then click MC's taskbar icon, which should bring it to the fore once more :)
