I just purchased Media Center 9 beta after having successfully run the demo version for 1 month. The demo ran smoothly with no errors.
When it warned me that my month was up and I went to purchase it, I noticed that the interface was slightly different. Perhaps it's a slight upgrade from what I was using before.
In any case, after purchasing and downloading and installing, it opened alright and loaded my list of MP3s. However, when I attempted to play a music file, it gave me a warning that my sound card was not configured correctly. I closed this window and another one with a duplicate message immediately appeared. I closed this window, then I got a window that warns of a "Visual C++ Runtime error" and by closing this window, the program shuts down.
When I try to restart the program, it gives me a warning saying "this program is not configured correctly for the current user" and will not start.
I attempted to reinstall Media Center 9, but the exact same process repeated over again.
I'm running Windows XP.
This behaviour is surprising and somewhat unsatisfactory, given that the free version I had been using was without problems entirely.
Please advise as to how this problem is corrected.
Thank you
Dave
