In /Tools / Get Movie & TV Info, after searching for and selecting a matching subtitle in OpenSubtitles.org  after then selecting "Use This Data", MC doesn't seem to be adding the selected subtitle. If the same movie is subsequently played after invoking "Use This Data", after right clicking "Subtitles", unlike expected behavior, no subtitle options are shown as being available to select.  I noticed this in MC 32.0.6, but I also found this didn't seem to be working any more in MC 31.0.87

Same here, and I'm on an even older version.

OpenSubtitles changed the way they are providing subtitles. We'll see if it can be remedied in a future build, as not all capabilities are still available from OpenSubtitles at this point.

I didn't see any changes for this in the recent builds... was wondering if it was determined that it could not be fixed?

I've been recently experiencing a second problem as well with MC and downloaded subtitles.

If I manually download the srt from subtitles.org into the movie folder, browse to select it in the subtitles option while the movie is playing i.e., (right click)/Subtitles/Browse, unlike previous behavior, MC "forgets" the selection on subsequent plays, and I have to manually select it again while the movie is playing.

Previously, if a downloaded subtitle file was manually selected during playback, it was automatically available on subsequent plays in MC without further user action, e.g. if playing subtitles was the default the downloaded subtitle file automatically played.  Both problems (downloading the titles in MC; having them subsequently available, i.e., "incorporated" in MC") were what I was (rather awkwardly) trying to refer to in my first post.

OpenSubtitles.org shut down API access to free users at the start of the year. OpenSubtitles.com is meant to be its replacement (I guess you could say), but there's major limitations currently (e.g. download limits) and it requires the user to have an account and use it within the app you're scraping subtitles with.

Frankly the whole OpenSubtitles situation has been one giant mess with the OpenSubtitles.org and OpenSubtitles.com stuff. So what's happening isn't really a MC issue per-say, it's caused by the fallout of OpenSubtitles.org shutting down free access and the limitations with OpenSubtitles.com. And it's affected everything that uses OpenSubtitles. I guess it's a wait and see sort of deal, unfortunately.

I guess being able to log in to the .com through MC and at least having access to the 20 subs per day would be something.  They should probably stop calling it "open"subtitles though.

Cinelder, if you name the subtitle file with the exact same name as the video file (except the extension of course), then it should be loaded automatically without having to browse for it.

Does it also rename the sub file after the movie file?

it does and if there is language postfix in the filename it adds that to destination filename. Well, actually behaviour in the MPC-HC is that drag and drop adds that subtitle into memory and sets it active to currently playing video and you can save it besides the video file with ctrl-s

Well, that sounds pretty useful.  I don't know about drag and drop as I am usually fullscreen, but definitely a good idea.
