Sorry for the late response on this but I decided to revisit this to see if a 3rd time is a charm lol.

So let me get this right.  Out of the 4000+ i have on my nas where each movie is in its own folder and named in the format for my Plex server, I will have to move all of these into combined folders and then in JRiver I have to individually group/tag/stack every file?    If this is the case is no automated way of doing this like others services do such as plex?

You don't need to move anything, the physical location is irrelevant. All you need is to have the movies properly tagged with the same name/year, or same 'Series' name (eg, "Aliens"), or same <whateverTag> value. Then you can create a View that groups movies using that Tag(s) so that similar ones are grouped together, like described above.
