Bought iFi Zen DAC V2, hooked it up, no joy [Solved]

penger10:
I thought this would be easier  ? but I'm a relative newbie to linux (mint) and may not have my settings correct.  When I go into playback options/audio device there are several device options with iFi mentioned. I tried all of them, but none worked. I guess I need the help of the collective JR community to see if it can be brought to life or needs to be returned.  What info do I need to supply to troubleshoot this?  I just used the ALSA device for my motherboard originally.

Here's my sysinfo:

Awesome Donkey:
Yeah, it detects it, but it gives off this...

--- Code: ---Error opening sound device for card 2, device 0: Device or resource busy.  Skipping.
--- End code ---

Have you tried rebooting the system? Maybe change to a different USB port (one on a different USB controller if possible)?

The first part is kinda interesting too, it doesn't give off the libasound_module_conf_pulse error in my Mint virtual machine when using alsacap. The part about it being i386 is the most interesting thing here. You're not using the i386 (32-bit) version of Media Center, correct? You probably should be using the amd64 (64-bit) version. To check, the quickest way is in MC go to the Help menu > About Media Center... and in that window it should say (64-bit) at the top exactly like this...

If it doesn't say that, you're probably using the i386 (32-bit) version.

Also, make sure the system sound card isn't set to use the Ifi; I've seen that error where the card was opened by the system mixer at the same time JRiver is trying to use the device.
