Auto-Completion?
« on: February 10, 2003, 03:04:34 pm »

I realize that this is deja vu all over again but now that just about everything is done and you guys have so much free time on your hands, any chance of adding auto-completion to your already excellent product?

I started the discussion on auto-completion a few months ago. I believe the reply was first: why do you need it?; then later the response was that people were up to their necks in alligators, maybe later.

I do understand the busy part but why its needed should be obvious, it would be an enormous time saver for serious users. Also, auto-completion framework is included in the Microsoft Studio library, I believe.

It does exist in some places in the latest builds.  Where do you miss it?

Jim,

Auto-completion would provide a significant time savings if it were implemented for just some of the major tag fields, most important fields would be: artist, composer, and any custom fields.

Where, btw, is it currently implemented? Sorry I did not notice, I would like to check it out. Thanks.

It is implemented but only in the properties window not in the main editor window...I think this is what Leo H is referring to...

In the properties window, auto-completion is implemented exacting the way one would want it. I just discovered that one can select a group of tracks and by using auto-completion, change just that field in all selected tracks. I had incorrectly assumed that all fields would change or only one track would change which would obviously not have been useful.

If auto-completion could also work in the main editor pane, that would be great but not essential. Thanks.
