No sound being output from my new ID
« on: March 18, 2024, 07:47:41 pm »

My ID is connected to my AV receiver with an HDMI cable and I have been able to successfully remote to it, BUT I cannot get it to play music. There are so many new choices for playback that I don't know which one to choose and/or how to configure it. Can someone please HELP!

Also why is this ID so locked down. I couldn't even attach a screen capture

Try the hw: output for your receiver.

Still not sure, am I making an invalid assumption about playback. if the HDMI cable provides the video to my AVR why doesn't it also provide the audio? Would I need to attach my old PC speakers to the ID to hear audio from the ID? Anyway, a good nights rest and I discovered a work around where I link the ID to the receiver.

Also where did all those There: basement AVR and There: Great Room AVR come from? They do not appear on any Windows or Mac release that I currently have installed

Try the other HDMI outputs.

What is the 3008Envy? The PC where your material is stored??
The
There:
Zones are links to zones on your 3008Envy. If you aren't going to play to them from you Id you can disable the DLNA controller function under the
Tools->Options->Media Network->Advanced on your Id.
Also, if you only using the Id to play material from your 3008Envy media server you might want to make sure that the
Tools->Options->Media Network->Client Options->Audio Image and Video conversions are disabled.
You shouldn't use a link to tie the zones together, what is your actual output device? The Id can output audio to any of the HDMI ports, the Analog port, or any USB DAC you might connect. If the Denon AVR is the desired output device just choose the hw:Card=PCH,Dev=3... option or the hdmi one.
Depending on your receiver it may need to be On when you first power up the Id.
One final thing, if you are using the Id in headless text mode you should use the option 3 from the main menu that initializes HDMI on start. If you are using GUI mode this is not necessary as it's done by default.

ok going to investigate. Yes 3008Envy is the source, the 3008MCID is connected to the receiver.

In those screenshots you're still using the hdmi: output and not the hw: output, the hdmi: output goes through the system mixer and the hw: is direct. You can tell which is which because they all start with different names; hdmi:, hw:, pluginhw, etc. so try the hw: output that mentions DENON-AVR and see if that makes a difference.

Success! Made the recommended changes and audio is working w/o having to link to the Great Room AVR and audio is being processed by the DSP studio!!! This is wonderful. I appreciate the help. I was certainly a bit stumped going into this. There is a new issue however which I will post under a separate subject, that issue is that my expressions are not working as they did when I was playing from my music source the 3008Envy
