OT - Elmer Bernstein
« on: February 09, 2003, 09:13:23 am »

I had a night off work sick during the week and happened to stumble across 'This is Your Life' just starting. It's not one of my fave shows and have'nt seen it for about 20 years. However, I thought I'd give it a crack and it turned out to be Elmer Bernstein. He's 80 years old and still going strong. They listed some of his film music and it totally surprised me. I had no idea he is so prolific and versatile. Amazing stuff - I know what I want for Christmas !!!

;Man With the Golden Arm', Classic score, Subject matter was quite shocking when it was released. Had lots of trouble with the Code people, who were still hanging around. But Man and 'The Moon Is Blue', plus one or two others, marked the beginning of the end for industry self-censorship.

BTW, hope you're feeling better.
