Problem with DLNA playback to Yamaha WX-010 speaker
« on: April 26, 2024, 11:03:17 pm »

Hello,

Using MC 32.0.41 (with JRemote on an iPad as the control point) and attempting to play to a network-attached Yamaha WX-010 speaker, I'm now getting near immediate crashes -- causing the MC window and server to crash.  I have logging turned on, but I'm not sure where to find the log from the previous invocation, which would seem needed for any diagnosis.

Earlier this evening, I could get several minutes of playback to the WX-010 as a renderer, but then the music would stop.  Going back to the study (where the computer is), I found all MC in the state described.  I then power-cycled the WX-010 and re-started MC.  Music playback seemed to start fine, but then halted again.  This time around, leaving the WX-010 as-is, the re-started MC is crashing soon after I hit "play" in the main window (I switched to using MC on the computer directly, rather than using JRemote to start playback).

I'd gladly provide a more concrete log, if I can be directed where I might find that!

Open the zip file.

Doesn't that only get created on-demand?  I don't see any recent one (in my Documents\JRiver folder).  Would a zipped log created after a crash include information from the previous Media Center execution?

Unfortunately, those questions are somewhat moot this morning, since playing to the WX Speaker now appears to be working fine.  This MC installation is able to play for hours and hours to a different, hard-wired DLNA renderer with absolutely no issues.  So, I'm perfectly willing to attribute this to some oddity on the WX end of matters.  It would be nice to understand the cause better, though.

I'll keep messing around this weekend and see if I can get the problem occurring again.

Did you turn on logging? Under Help menu.

Yes, I turned logging on last night.  It was on through several of the crashes.

Go to Logging again and save the file.

Well, I didn't get the problem to repeat for log capture, but then I noticed Build 42 and this thread:

I guess 42 really is the ultimate answer!  ;D
