Duplicates syncing handheld

MC declares hundreds of my tracks as duplicates and doesn't copy them to my handheld. I don't see that I have any control over this behavior. I see lots of duplicates that are copied, so I'm unable to determine what MC is doing. What do I need to do to get control over this? Thanks!

to start... there is a smartlist called "Audio - task - possible duplicates"  that may shed some light on what MC is calling a duplicate.  You can also do a google search on jriver duplicates.  There's lots of data on finding and dealing with duplicates.

Hi Badger-

Thanks for replying. I've looked at what I can find on the forum and online, but I haven't found anything pertinent to my question. I have more than 17.000 duplicates, and it simply is not feasible to manually edit them all.

I am specifically interested in how I can control what is copied to my handheld, and I wonder if MC offers any switches like "ignore duplicates" or something  for those operations. It would be very helpful. Thanks!
