How Do I know V. 32 is now loaded on my laptop?
« on: May 08, 2024, 05:40:53 pm »

Just purchased V. 32 and got new code so is old code no longer valid? Had updated to V. 26 before in 2019 and lost my Playlists so had to re-input. Hopefully this does not happen again. How do I know V. 32 is loaded? When I go to my JRiver page it states Media Center 25 at the top. I am fine with my current version but understand that it will no longer be supported. I only use it to listen to music.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Thank you Graham849 for your response.
I down loaded the file and selected with box that came up and asked if I wanted to install and make changes. I selected yes and screen stated this was a license for a different product that was now installed and I checked the okay box.
That's it.
When I open  JRiver it shows Media Center 25. Shouldn't this now show 32?
Do I uninstall the previous version to get the new version to come up? Will it do this automatically?
Don't want to uninstall and not have the new version up and running.

When you install a new version of MC, it does not overwrite or replace the previous one.

What that means is, if you typically launch MC via a shortcut (like an icon on your taskbar) that you created for version 25, that shortcut will still be pointing to the old (installed) version. If that is the situation, then either update the shortcut target so it points to the new version, or explicitly create a new shortcut that points to MC32.

Thanks for your response HPBEME,
I do use an icon short cut but how do I change that to go to the V.32?  I do not see anywhere were the V.32 is located except in my download folder.
In JRiver- Help-Registration, it asks to reset and restore license. When selected it asks to remove the existing license then a dialog box to enter the new license. Will this work to install new V.32 when the new code is input?

You have to ensure MC32 is actually installed for the scenario I described in my other post for the shortcut to even be an issue. Did you check both the Programs, and Programs (x86) folders? The first Programs folder is where you would find it if you downloaded (and installed) the MC 64-bit version, and the second location is if you installed the 32-bit version.

You may need to go to the restore license page to get the latest code if you don't have it from a JRiver email.  Hopefully JimH will hop on here and help you out if that is the case.

Still more ways to see installed Windows applications:

(1) Windows Start Key > Search for:  settings > Apps > Installed apps > Filter by:  All drives > Sort by: Name (A-Z)
Scroll down the list to see all installed versions of JRiver Media Center.  This path is useful mainly for uninstalling, or possibly modifying the install.

(2) Windows Search Bar > Search: JRiver > Apps tab and look for it right there.  If present,  you can click to launch it or choose other options "Open File Location", "Pin to Start Menu",  etc.

Once you find Media Center 32.exe, you can create a new shortcut from its RMB menu, or very carefully RMB drag > release RMB > create shortcuts here.

Hello markf2748,
Followed your suggestions which I already had done, but only JRiver25(64bit) is shown. So V.32 has not been installed but the folder exists in my download section. As I stated in one of my previous posts when I click on the folder and is asked if I want the file to make changes I click ok but then a new box states that the previous V.25 is installed and the new is not compatible. Box only has close button or ok. When I click ok nothing happens.
How do I get V.32 to load and then select to use this version?
Do not want to uninstall V.25 and not be able to install V.32.
I checked my security / firewall folder and nothing is shown that JRiver is blocked.

What is the "Folder" you are clicking on ?
MC is not downloaded as a folder it is downloaded as a single file - MediaCenter3200nn-x64.exe , where nn is the version number

There's no harm in installing MC32 a second time.

Hello English Tiger,
It is in a file in the Download section of my PC Icon, ( my poor choice of words ) .
One file is titled Media Center32 Windows-60419, Type states "Media Center.25.Registration", Size- 2KB.
Another file is titled Media Center32 Windows-60419, Type states "Shortcut", Size- 1KB.
Do the file sizes make sense? How large are they supposed to be?
I will try Jim's suggestion to download again from JRiver.
Hopefully this will resolve?
Is it correct that I can have multiple  version up and running on my computer depending on which one I select and would each one have my library and play lists?

Those are license files for Media Center. Go here and download MediaCenter320042-x64.exe from here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,138762.0.html

Thank you to all that helped me with resolving my problem.
I did download MC32 again and all is working.
After I had paid and received my key code and input it, I thought I was set but obviously not.
Thanks again.
