Albums - Only the first track has cover art [SOLVED]
« on: June 08, 2024, 08:57:09 am »

Using theater view last night, playing two albums in shuffle... album A has cover art for every track, but album B only has cover art for the first track!

How do I identify ALL of these cases in my library?
Once identified, what is the process to put the cover art on EVERY track?

Under Playlists in the tree there is a Smartlist that tells you tracks missing cover art.

In the tree on the left in Standard View, go to the file/track that has the cover art.  Open the tag and scroll down to the cover art.  Click on the cover art and save to clipboard.  You can then go to either album view or file view and highlight the rest.  Click in the space where cover art is missing and select paste from clipboard (wording may be different as I'm not in front of it).

Thanks for the smartlist tip. I didn't know all those were built in!

Since the first track had the cover art, I was able to right click > save cover art to external location specified in options. Then right click > quick find in file/cover art directory.

Only downside to this method is that MC "modifies" the actual music file(s), which changes the "date modified" on disk.

You could temporarily disable tag writing to prevent it if you just use external image

You can just select the tracks of an album then right click for Cover Art - Copy to clipboard (first file). Then use Copy from Clipboard to fill in the other tracks. No need to actually write the cover art to an external file.

Ya, didn't realize any of those options until after I had finished my process. So now I have lots of files with newly written "date modified", which for me isn't a big deal. I know it's a thing for many out there.

MC sometimes with some fields triggered tag rewriting even though metadata changed was db field only. I think e.g. when updating image file field. Not sure if that is still the case
