It's not odd at all, it's expected. As Jim mentioned MC23 and MC27 (or any version MC28 and older currently) can no longer access online services like get cover art from internet, CD lookup, etc. You'd either have to upgrade to MC32 or manually find and add covers yourself. But if you're using an older Mac that doesn't support macOS 10.13 then you may not be able to upgrade (unless you upgrade your Mac hardware) as MC32 won't run on macOS 10.12 and older.
L1D1:
I can load Mojave so that is not an issue.
How do I upgrade to MC32?
What does it do better besides get artwork from the internet?
btw will it automatically get artwork or do you have to do it file by file?
thanks much,
Lou
L1D1:
I paid for the upgrade to MC32 and it made no difference except that now it will ONE BY ONE find cover art from the internet.
But it still does not load the hundreds of missing thumbnails.
Any suggestions?
JimH:
You can select multiple files, then right click to do cover art.
Awesome Donkey:
Unless the cover image(s) are either embedded into the files themselves or are present in each folder (e.g. a folder.jpg file) you'll have to gather them from the internet and rebuild the thumbnails, which may take awhile to do. The Get cover art from Internet feature is "slow" or appears to do it one-by-one because it has to. There's been issues in the past where metadata/cover sites banned MC's users from accessing too much data in a short time and it has to pace itself in hope to avoid such issues.
If they're audio files, would really recommending embedding the cover(s) in the files themselves, makes things a lot easier.
