DSD not working
dejanm:
I have been using JRiver reproducing DSD files for a quite some time. It worked just fine. In a last couple of months I did not play DSD files but mainly PCM. In that period of time there were a couple of MACOS updates. Now I am on the latest Soma 14.5. Today when I wanted to play DSD, it does not work. No error messages, just there is no sound. JRiver says that the source is DOP DSD 64 and that internal is bitstreaming. I am not sure why it is DoP - I do not know any setting where you can explicitely say that you want to have DoP or native DSD ? My DAC (Arcam irDAC II) supports DSD 128 native. Might that be an issue ? But how it worked before ?
I have made bistreaming DSD 128 as max possible bitstreaming option. Also in a Audio Midi Setup I selected the max possible option. I incline to believe that it has something to do with the new version of MACOS ?
Awesome Donkey:
Well, there's part of your problem, DoP is the only one supported on macOS.
Make sure DSP Studio > Output Format > Output Encoding is set to None. Also make sure both internal volume and system volume is set to 100% otherwise bitstreaming may fail. If the issue still happens after ensuring those things, you may need to contact the DAC manufacturer.
dejanm:
All these things have been already set as you desribed them. JRiver Volume is also disabled.
Does anybody else have the same problem ?
Awesome Donkey:
Only other thing I can think is maybe try toggling the integer mode option in the audio device's settings in MC's Options. I've never tried using Disabled Volume option when bitstreaming DSD, maybe try Internal Volume or System Volume? There's also an option there Enable Volume When Bitstreaming, maybe try toggling that one too?
dejanm:
I tried integer mode disabling. No change. I tried also with system volume (on max). No change.
This option volume when bitstreaming could not find.
But these existing settings have been working before. It has to be a consequence of one of the latest MacOS updates.
