Please stop doing carnac tag thing/analyze for video files already in library when drag and drop files into MC from explorer. It slows things up and MORE importantly messes up the tags which have already been set right manually before in MC. Just lost couple thousand files of work as MC reset artist, date etc tags when drag and dropped video files to playing now from explorer.

MC shouldn't change anything that is already tagged.

Try the Library Tools or restore a backup. 

Nothing has changed in this area.

This is has been there for ages I think. Just haven't hit it recently as I haven't done this kind of work for a while. I think it only affects video files and only when dragging files from outside MC eg. from windows explorer.

This time got some YT downloads which have matroska tags included eg. artist might be the channel name. All the files are already imported and I have set the artist eg. the beatles in the library. Now if I drag and drop the same files to eg. MC's playing now view MC will reanalyze and do the carnac again and applies the matroska tags or other analyze results bak to the files.

A change not to read matroska title for movies was made some time ago so maybe it is media sub type specific and movies are not affect with it. In my case her I have tagged the files as music video

When I drag a file that's already imported into MC from Explorer, no analysis is run in the debugger.  I tried an MKV file.

If I update the library from tags it runs.

So I can't explain the problem you encountered.  Maybe we could look at the log to get more clues?

Step1 drag and drop video to playlist (file is imported). Artist is parsed as countdown by mc
Step2 edit artist to a-ha. Remove item from playlist (not from library)
Step3 re-drag vide to playlist. Artist is re-parsed as countdown by mc
