SACD to FLAC conversion
« on: August 17, 2024, 06:14:44 pm »

I'm not sure I'm in the correct discussion section, so apologies up front. If I'm not, please point me in the proper direction.

I've a boatload of SACD files that my EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition won't play (SACD proprietary stuff). I've hightlighted files in question (small sample for starters)gone to TOOLS>LIBRARY TOOL>CONVERT and selected FLAC as the conversion format. The Activity Windows shows conversion started, in process and completed. At the end of the process the file format for the selected files remains as SACD. I have to believe that this is a case of operator error and not a flaw in MC33.

All advice and suggestions is warmly received and greatly appreciated.

Ciao for now

SACD's can't be ripped on a PC.  It's possible to convert them to DSD.  Please start here:

This is the thread you want to read

I'd also recommend NOT converting them to flac, in doing so you lose any benefit the SACD could offer.  The DSD format is playable on most modern PC Players

I've read both threads and am having no joy.

The detailed one with screen shots and specific steps to enable playing from Awesome Donkey does not seem to align. The views of app in the screen shots look nothing like what I get when I start the process. I'm on MC33, Win11. None of the dropdowns shown reflect my device (EverSolo DMP-6 Master Edition). If I knew how to do the screen shot thing as well, I'd post the results. JRiver skips over the SACD files and then stops the playlist from moving on to the next file.

Sorry to be such a pain. Anyother suggestions are appreciated.

For DSD files, check the DSP box in the Options popup and configure Output Format.  DSD to PCM conversion first reduces the sample rate to 1/8th of the original sample rate. So, 1x goes to 352, 2x goes to 704 and 4x goes to 1405). You need to further resample those to your desired sample rate. So in the greater than 768 line, put 352. Then in 352 and 704 put in your desired final PCM sample rate. You can also set the destination folder in the Options dialog also. That should let you convert your files to the desired sample rate.

If they are ISO files, you need to extract them to DSD first.
