I use Hang Loose Convolver VST3 for my convolution filters(don't know if it makes difference).  While playing audio, and only on first time opening DSP dialog, the DSP dialog just closes up on its own.  Subsequent openings of DSP dialog seem to not close up on their own.

More concerning
I've had a couple of instances where, regardless of internal volume setting,  I've been blasted with what seems 100% internal volume.  I ended up turning volume control on DAC way, way down because of this.   I'm really not sure what causes this, but it's a bit disconcerting.  One time I accidentally mapped a channel to itself when I had the volume burst (mix channels source and destination were the same channel),  but I'm pretty sure issue also occured without this incorrect mix configuration.

Also, not sure if this is defect or not with new channel system.  I have a 10 channel convolution.  The input material is 10 channel wav audio,  all 10 channels contain audio. If I set channels to 10 channels or "source" all works as expected.  10 channels go to DAC and convolution is perfect.   When I specify 5.1 with 4 extra channels, the convolution VST seems to "think" there are 10 channels, but it doesn't seem to receive the extra channel's audio i.e. the 4 extra channels seem to be empty.
I expected all 10 channels of audio would be be passed to the convolution as is, but the 4 "extra" channels seem to be missing.
It also works this way in version 32, but I was hoping with tne new channel mapping this behavior would be different.
If the system could process a 5.1 container together with the 4 extra channels, I'd be able to play all format 10, 5.1 4.0 5.0 properly within one zone.

Thanks

Some inconsistencies in behavior of the Playing Now Popup (PNP) Control Skin:

(1) The Pause button never shows up on the PNP (though the pause action works by clicking on PNP's play button).

In the main Player Bar (upper left corner) the Play button gets replaced with the Pause button once music starts playing, as everyone expects.  This does not happen in the PNP for the identical Play button, so it is confusing.

Note:  MC's taskbar tooltip controls exhibit the same behavior as the PNP controls.  I eventually got got used to it, made easier precisely because their appearance is distinctly different from my skinned Player Bar controls.  It's good to see the Standard View and Mini View controls are consistently stateful.

(2) Set PNP to "Show when track changes or playback starts/resumes".  Does not work in a MC Player view tab when double clicking a paused track in the Content Panel's lower track list.  Ciicking a different track than the currently paused track works.  Works with the space bar, with the Player Bar upper left Pause/Play button, and with the tray icon pop up.

Note:  In view tabs other than Player, double clicking a paused track brings up the PNP as expected.

(3) The setting "Global keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+I ...)" does not stick in the PNP.  Restarting MC does not help.  Ctrl+I works within MC, independent of the checkbox state, but never works outside of the MC window.

Note: Example of another program stealing the "global" shortcut:  Ctrl+I is apparently the Firefox browser's keyboard shortcut for Page Info.  It is active when the Firefox browser window has focus.

8/17/2024:  Multiple revisions for clarity.

I used this build today and I experienced random visual glitches, similar to the ones you get when there are decoding errors.
It did not matter if I used the new presentation mode or the old one.

I switched to MC32 and I had no more glitches. I had no glitches on the previous public MC33 build either.

If the AVs have a feature to submit false positive reports, it might be a good idea to do that to get it resolved faster. Generally AV vendors will give more attention to reports from their own customers versus if someone at JRiver contacted them to report it, at least it may be resolved sooner coming from a customer of the AV's report. Avast/AVG are owned/developed by the same company, so it doesn't surprise me there's a false positive detection with both.

So annoying to hear AVs like Avast/AVG are still straight flagging apps signed with an EV certificate without any sort of required sample submission for deeper analysis (as chance of a false positive with an app signed with an EV cert seems more likely), it just mind boggles a little.

It seems that VST latency compensation has been turned off in version 33
I just installed v33 and my video/audio is totally out of sync
I am using linear phase VST plugins that cause a significant audio delay but in v32 it works fine
Maybe there are some settings in v33 that I need to change?
Thank you

The issues I had on some pal discs (Mylene Farmer live 2019, the art of flight) seem to be gone when I activate the new presentation mode, sounds promising.

Since using the 'resample uncommon sample rates option', i cannot change the sample rate of audio driver in windows, even if i revoke exclusive access to the audio driver. After further testing, only seems to apply to the Realtek HD audio driver.

Reported the issue to Microsoft also.

Avast also flags it as infected...

It's a false positive.  Report it to the provider.

I had one glitch with MC32 as well, which never happened before, so I'm not sure what's going on but it might not be related to MC33 after all.

Some inconsistencies in behavior of the Playing Now Popup (PNP) Control Skin:

1) Yes, it does not change buttons based on play state.  No plans to change that yet.

2) This is a special case where you are not resuming (it starts over from the beginning) and the track does not change, but I will see if we can handle it better.

3) Are you saying this option does not get saved properly?  It seems to be working for me.

Hi -

Version 33 will not play my old WMA files. Version 32 plays them just fine. They both play my FLAC files. I set up 33 the same way I have for previous versions and WMA is set to Automatic in File Types. Any suggestions?

1) Yes, it does not change buttons based on play state.  No plans to change that yet.
The current default appearance violates my basic design rule "buttons which look the same should behave the same" - otherwise they are jarring.  So I will try skinning the PNP Controls (particularly the Play button) to look the same as the MC Taskbar Tooltip controls (distinct from my custom Player Bar controls) until things change.

2) This is a special case where you are not resuming (it starts over from the beginning) and the track does not change, but I will see if we can handle it better.
Thanks.  From this user's perspective, the special pause case looks like all the other pause or startup cases as described above.  So PNP activated by a double click in a Player view tab should certainly be fixed to behave as the other cases to meet user expectations.

Clarifications:
In general, none of the following trigger the PNP:  double click the Previous button (rewind track and start over from the beginning), long hold it (fast backwards), grab the progress bar and slide it to a new position.  These are logically consistent (all related to positioning) and OK as is.

Re:  Double clicking the track listing (rewinds and starts over except not in Player view, or starts playing a new track).  I think most people would expect (and prefer?) this double click to trigger the PNP in all views, including Player, even when restarting the currently playing track.  However I can see there is some logic in treating Player views differently (i.e. no PNP for restart), though it's kind of subtle and puzzled me at first.  I think I might actually prefer the way it is now, particularly when editing lyrics - so maybe an option?

3) Are you saying this option does not get saved properly?  It seems to be working for me
Yes, that's what I am saying.
a) Open the PNP settings, check the box "[ ]Global shortcut... Ctrl+I" and "[x ]" check mark appears.
b) Click "OK" to save the settings.
c) Reopen the PNP settings after clicking on next track.  The option is no longer check marked.
Restarting MC before clicking next track did not change matters.
Pause play then play same track did not change matters.

8/19/2024 Edits for clarity.

No - it is an admin account.
Also tried explicitly running MC as Administrator.  No difference.

Where is this state info stored?  Could the location be write-protected or non-existent on my PCs?  Would you expect a write fail to show up in the log?

I see same behavior on Win 11 Pro and Win 10 Pro & Home.

Inconsistency in the Playing Now Popup 3-Track Skin -

LMB Click once on the PNP skin's <<PREV Track Thumbnail:  Sometimes the player jumps back 1 track as expected, but much of the time it restarts the currently playing track without jumping to the previous track.  Very inconsistent action.

LMB Click once on the PNP skin's NEXT>> Track Thumbnail:  Always jumps the player ahead by 1 track as expected.  Quick reliable action.

I see same behavior on three different Windows PCs.  Occurs in both Player view tab and other view tabs.

Check your setting in MC:

Tools > Options > General > Behavior > Previous Button and make sure it is set to Previous Track always.

Thanks, cool, that works much better :) but...

It's puzzling that with "CD Player Style" the Playing Now Popup response seemed so inconsistent.  I certainly tried double left clicking many times over, at various speeds, and never figured out what was going on.  In retrospect, the PNP "<<PREV" in this mode still seems hit and miss, very sensitive to the time delay between left clicks and the number of times it is applied in a row.  The Playerbar Previous button is much more robust.  You may want to look at that, maybe there is some popup limitation with double clicks.

If this can't be resolved, then always run PNP in "Previous Track" and apply the option only for the Playerbar Previous button.  "<<PREV" labeling leads one to expect "Previous Track" anyway, and that would be my preference, while running PlayerBar in "CD Player Style".

The screen goes completely black when playing DVD ifo files (25 fps). The program doesn't crash, but shows no movie. Sound is still playing.

I have tried with both presentation queue on or off with same result.

This works very consistently for me with the CD Player Style.  Slow clicking works best.  Click once and wait for it to jump to the beginning then click again and it goes to the previous track.  But I think it makes sense for the 3-Track skin to always go previous so I will make that change.
