  • Hello.  Is this to whom I'm speaking?
time to go to MC9?
« on: January 31, 2003, 12:10:46 pm »

I remember reading something in the boards a while back about MC9 needing WMP9 to work properly.

I have heard only bad things about WMP9.  Should I hang on to MJ8 until WMP9 sucks less or is MC9 immune to the poor performance of WMP9?

Sorry if this sounds stupid.  I'm simply allergic to crappy applications.  You should(n't) see me break out in hives any time someone mentions Real One :D

PLEASE don't install WMP9 right now.  Wait a few weeks.  MC9 works fine with previous versions of WMP.

I have heard of much weirdness related to WMP9, like CD playback not working and playback of DiVX files getting glitcches. As the resident paranoid I'd say that there is some extra digital rights management inside WMP9 that will sooner or later make a mess of our computers. I won't touch WMP9 with my brother's computer!  >:(

I ain't no fan of WMP9 (or 8,or 7, or...you get the point), but I d-loaded some content that could only be read through WMP9, so I loaded it up and...have had no problems with it reacting to MC9 or any other system problems, really.

Some Microsoft content is protected or licensed.  This content cannot yet be read if it's been encoded with WMP9.  After we get the SDK, it will be.

Okey Dokey.

I'm guessing this is one of the last items keeping MC9 in beta?

Real One pisses me off to an extreme.  I mean, yeah, I guess they're just trying to make it the all-in-one for dummies...but bleh.
