Move, rename bug
« on: August 29, 2024, 04:14:23 pm »

Move, rename with F6 doesn't work as in former versions. Despite changing the name there is still used the previous version.
The appended picture will hopefully show what I mean.

Here is a better screenshot. The moved file on the HD isn't renamed.

I have the same problem. Also when making any change, the tags do not update and an error message asking me to check to see if the file is read-only, (It is NOT and the file does exist)

You looked in System Preferences to see if Media Center 33 has permissions to write in the destination?

That may be the problem.
The permission for removable volumes is missing in the system preferences whereas it is there for MC 32.
After the install the system didn't ask for that and as I know there is no possibility to add that manually.
After the first install all crashed every time. There was the permission for desktop and downloads missing (thread: crash).
Now it is running and I can work with removable volumes but the permission for that is missing.
Really don't know what to do....

Try opening a file with the open file URL in MC on a removable drive and it should ask.

That works without I have to set a permission.
And in the meantime I have seen that it has nothing to do with a missing permission.
If I try to do an action with F6 on the internal Mac drive it's the same.
The file name doesn't change.
Or even stranger at the last attempt: it doesn't show the chosen (highlighted and just playing) files
but these I that I used before as you can see in the appended screenshot.

Frank, your screenshots don't really show enough info:
- On the last one there is no option selected, so nothing will be renamed - hence the "no change" in the screenshot
- On the previous ones, the path in the "Directories" option is cut out so it's not possible to see what you're trying to do. If the path entered there is the same as the current path for the files/album, then of course it will be "no change" as the screenshot shows. You entered nothing in the "rule" field.

Please paste the actual text you have on those options and the current path of the files, and what you're trying to do.

You are right. I didn't need to set anything for years. Now that I have to set all preferences anew I seem to be a bit helpless.
To set the "rule" field made it.
Thanks.
