Visualizations for mac?
« on: September 28, 2024, 05:02:28 pm »

Are there visualizations available for the mac version?  I see Player:Display Options:Visualizations but the only option available there is "cycle all" and there is nothing to cycle.

Thanks.

Sound Spectrum https://www.soundspectrum.com/ has updated after several years its visualizers to the latest version of macOS Sequoia. It's amazing to listen to music while watching visualizations. I can't leave macOS and move to Windows, where they can use visualizers, but it would be an extraordinary feature to be able to do it on macOS. These kinds of features are a big advantage over using streaming platforms like Spotify, Tidal or Qobuz. My ears see and my eyes hear.

I would get a new G-Force license from Sound Spectrum if it works well with JRiver.

G-Force requires at least Windows XP or Mac OS 10.6 or later and at least an Intel Core series processor.

I assume it works with MC but can't verify as my Mac has an Apple M1 Max chip, not an Intel chip. Maybe someone with an Intel chip can verify.

I bought Aeon Platinum v4.2.3 for my M4 Mac Mini, and as far as I can tell it doesn’t present itself as a “native” visualiser in my MC 30. The only way I can make it work is by passing sound to the standalone version of Aeon via the BlackHole Audio Driver.

I have done it with Rogue Amoeba Loopback https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/, but it was unusable until I updated to Sequoia and the developer duly updated the app. In Sonoma it didn't work for me.

It would be interesting if JRiver would enable the option for visualizers in Media Center. This kind of plugins are a great advantage over streaming platform applications and I think they help a lot to keep using stored files and the computer as audio source.
