TV Channel surfing with OSD on a client
« on: July 31, 2024, 12:52:41 pm »

I know I've brought this up before so if it's already been answereed somewhere on the forum just point me to the setup or in the right direction...

SERVER: When watching TV and changing channels with the OSD using a remote it will require an "OK" push on the remote or hit enter on the keyboard before changing to the desired channel.

CLIENT: It changes to the next channel right away which is slow and annoying if you want to skip ahead (or back) a few channels. The only current workaround for this is to use the guide on the client instead of the OSD...

Any way to change this behaviour on the client?

Thx!

On a remote, just type the numbers.  I don't think you need to use the OSD.  Or use Channel Up and Channel Down.

On a remote, just type the numbers.  I don't think you need to use the OSD.  Or use Channel Up and Channel Down.

Using channel up and down will do the same unwanted behaviour of the client if I want to skip several channels at once.

The OSD is quick and easy and is one of the features I like for channel surfing. And I don’t see why the behaviour should be different on a client PC.

When watching TV and changing channels with the OSD using a remote...
What do you mean "changing channels with OSD"?

Ah, changing channels like that (with OSD) is not a feature I use. But can confirm that Clients do behave differently than the Server.

What do you mean "changing channels with OSD"?
Look at the pic above for the OSD (On Screen Display)

In theater view or full screen you access it with the up arrow and the left & right arrow to change the channel.
With the server you need to press enter to select the desired channel. (wanted)
With a client it will select the next channel right away (unwanted)

Thx for confirming. Can you check on your end I think you have a similar setup.

This issue is fixed in an upcoming build.

Changed: With a client streaming live TV from the server, the behavior of changing channel using OSD menu is now consistent with that when playing live TV using local tuner, i.e. it will require pressing the Enter key to activate the change.
