Volume slider is a zero upon startup
« on: October 24, 2024, 07:05:42 pm »

Hi, I have the latest version of MC 33. For some reason the volume slider control is at zero when I boot up MC. How do I get it to stay at 100% like it used to do? I've tried the different settings in the VOLUME tab, but it still is at zero then I boot up the program the next time I listen to music. The first time it happened it took me a while to notice that the slider was at zero, as there was nothing but static coming out of my speakers. After checking my Windows 10 computer, the USB cable going into a Matrix converter, and the I2S output going into my PS Audio DSD Perfectwave DAC. Checked everything and reset everything, booted up MC then noticed that the volume was at zero. Set it at 100% and it sounds as good as ever, but would like to figure out how to keep the volume at 100% at bootup of MC like it used to do. Any thoughts out there?

Volume tab?  Just to be clear, attached are settings I currently use in Options > Audio > Volume.  I find MC always starts up with the volume slider setting at last close, which I generally keep at 100%.  Same startup behavior if I close/open just the GUI or relaunch MC entirely or uncheck the Volume Protection and/or Loundness.

However if "Startup volume:" is set to zero, then the volume slider will be zero after a restart.

I set MC to use the USB ASIO audio driver supplied by the manufacturer of my connected USB DAC.

Use -1 for startup volume to mean no changes.
