No sound when monitor is switched off

Doesn't sound like an EDID problem - from what I understand the audio output is not going to the HDMI output, but instead to an USB DAC. That would not be affected by the HDMI link going to sleep.

Instead, perhaps your PC itself is going to sleep for inactivity? The normal config is to put the monitor to sleep after X minutes, and then a few minutes later the PC itself also sleeps - this would account for your description of the audio cutting out a few minutes after the monitor sleeps.

Try disabling the "sleep after X minutes" in the power config settings. There should also be a setting to prevent the PC from going to sleep when it's playing media, not sure if MC honors that (it needs to tell windows that it's playing media).

Easy to test:
1. Start playback
2. Unplug the HDMI cable from the NUC or TV

Does music continue to play?
