Cover art does not load in Files view

This functionality seems to have disappeared from the Files view in 33. I have tried adding cover art to items in my library in various ways, such as 'Get From Internet', 'Copy/Paste' from files with art, etc.   When I click on 'View First File', the retrieved cover art displays. It does not display in the 'Files' view, which is what I most often use. 'Image>small thumbnail' is checked in the context menu. But no image appears I haven't had this issue in prior builds over many years using MC. Suggestions?
