? I'm using MC32 and it seems with every upgrade I have lost the (fairly complicated and tedious to re-create) Presets for Renaming files. I create presets for various media types (video, tv, movies, music, classical music) and none of those presets came over from MC31. (I'm not referring to the 'global' presets in Options->File Location, but user-created custom presets saved and accessed using the "Preset" button at the bottom of the window.) I don't want to continue to upgrade and each time have to recreate things like this from scratch that *should*?? come over from the previous version during the upgrade.
In any event, where are these Presets stored (registry key?, file system?) so I can hopefully manually move them over when I next upgrade?

They're stored in the registry at:
Code: [Select]
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Center 32\Properties
In the right pane, you're looking for the string value named "Rename From Info - Presets"

That answers your question. However, also consider this...
Immediately before upgrading, make a library backup. "File > Library > Backup Library"
Those presets should transfer across when you upgrade. If they don't, do a library restore. "File > Library > Restore Library"
Choose the backup you just made.
Ensure "Settings" is selected and proceed.

Once it's done (takes but a few seconds) that should be you from there on, having just avoided the need for rooting around in the registry importing/exporting keys.

Hmm, I regularly backup and don't seem to have gotten the presets transferred over, but the Library restore afterward is clever. Thanks, I'll certainly give it a try next time!
