Update Tags (from library) cmd Fails
« on: November 19, 2024, 02:05:38 pm »

What would cause the command Update Tags (from Library) to fail?  I find it very helpful when switching libraries from one computer to another to have the cover art saved inside the file.  I've been doing this for a couple years and to thousands of files without failure.  Now, I have two folders that refuse to Update.

See attached pic for MC message indicating failure but no hints for the reason.  I've tried the rebooting MC and rebooting the PC.  I also tried deleting these folders from the disc, adding them back, and then reimporting with no success.  I don't really have any idea why these two folders will not update.

Any suggestions?

This was interesting. The slashes in the filename are the wrong direction for the Windows platform.

We play those files but didn't update the tags.

I'm changing the coming build so update tags will work just like playback.

There might be other things not working, so please let us know if you trip over anything.

Another fix would be to simply import the files again with the proper slash direction. Not sure what created the other slashes.

Thanks for the help.

I figured out a little more on why the slashes are getting reversed.  But, I don't understand what is going on or how to fix it.

- The external SSD drive I am using was attached to the id.
- Now the external SSD is plugged into a PC
- The slashes are oriented correctly when viewed in Windows explorer
- When I changed the view from normal Windows to show slashes, a dialogue box displays underneath showing the id even though the SSD is now attached to the PC.
- MC import config shows the SSD as drive D with the proper slash orientation
- MC changes the slashes when it imports probably because "something" is telling it the SSD is still attach to the id thus thinking it is Linux.
- I cannot find any settings on the SSD to change though there must be one.

Images attached show the above text because "a picture is worth...."
Image MC 1 shows MC Import Settings
Image MC 2 shows Windows Explorer on the PC and the weird dialogue box with the id
Image MC 3 shows selecting the folder for import in MC
Image MC 4 shows the MC Import Summary and the slashes now changed to Linux format.

Hope someone knows how to make a setting change on the SSD external drive so it stops sending confusing messages to connected devices and apps telling them it is connected to a Linux device.
