Media Server - accounts/permissions questions
« on: December 26, 2024, 11:57:04 am »

I know the employees are away for the holidays, but perhaps someone else knows the answer here:

I want to grant read only access to a select few people and retain read/write access for myself, that is I'm looking to implement two accounts

1) a read-write enabled login
2) a read-only login

But I can't figure out how to do this with the MC UI.  I assume that only one access key per server is supported, and as far as I can tell, only one username/password is supported. Is the only option unauthenticated read-only access (i.e. anyone with the access key can read) along with a password protected read-write account?  Or is there some other way to do it?

Thanks.

In Options > Media Network, select a choice from Read-only Authentication. It will ask for the user and password if you set it to "Username and password".

MC's Options > Media Network section...

1) Enable the Authentication option and select a Username and Password. This will be the admin login that has read/write access.

2) Set Read-only Authentication to Username and Password.

3) Click on Read-only Authentication Login and choose a username and password in the dialog for the read-only authentication. By default readonly is used for both the username and password.

That's it. You should be able to log in using either the admin login for read/write access or you can put in the read-only login info and it'll only have read access.

EDIT: Matt's a ninja, I swear. :P
