Support for DTS and DD in MC9
« on: January 28, 2003, 05:18:19 pm »

Hi. I wonder if MC9 supports DTS and DD as well as Music DVD. I have PowerDVD with DTS. Would I be able to use the DTS decoder from PowerDVD in MC9?
Thanks

I think it depends a little about whether you are talking about the DTS/DD-encoded audio from DVDs or if you are talking about Redbook format DTS CDs.

I haven't played with MC in a month or so, so perhaps someone else can jump in to answer if you are referring to audio from DVDs.

Redbook DTS CDs work well with MC. You may need different hardware depending on your operating system and your connection to your amplifier/receiver, but I've had DTS CDs working well in Win2k with an M-Audio 24/96 DiO & a toslink connection to my preamp.

Someday soon I plan on taking the DTS/DD-encoded audio from some of my concert DVDs and ripping it to the hard drive, then trying to import/manage/play the resulting files with MC/MJ.

As for the high-resolution DVD-A and SACD formats, MC can't help us there (although I wish it could!!).

Good luck,
Brad
